The picture: Hoping to travel through the best parts of Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador and perhaps even on up to central America. Looking to trek in some of the most beautiful parks Patagonia, kayak right up to glaciers, raft some bad ass white water, party at the beach, hike in the desert, check out great salt flats, tour the jungle, hike the Inca trail, and study Spanish while living with a local family. All this and more can be yours too, should you choose to join in on the fun.

The plan so far: I’m flying off to Buenos Aires next week and will spend just a few days there before heading south towards Tierra del Fuego. With luck in Ushuaia I’ll get a discounted seat aboard an Antarctic cruise. Next it’s north towards Torres del Paine to trek the circuit. After that more fun around Puerto Natales, sea kayaking, glacier cruising and the like. Then heading north to El Calafate and Park National Los Glaciares for more trekking and eventually up to Bariloche and the Patagonian lakes region. I understand Pucon is a pretty damn fun backpacker scene complete with hikes up volcanos, horseback riding, kayaking, rafting and the like. Yip Whoop!

That’s the plan so far. More will evolve soon enough. Feel free in jump in at any time.

Please pass along your own experiences from South America and any travel recommendations. I look forward to hearing from you.

Have fun! Remember that all of your friends would like to hear from you occasionally to make sure you haven’t resettled in Antarctica for the winter (or is it summer there?). Anxiously awaiting the next posting….

Hey CN! When will you be in Torres del Paine? Steph and I fly to Santiago on 2/7 then on to Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales on 2/10. We’ll be hiking the circuit or the “W” starting on the 11th. Let’s meet up at the park!
